About Lickmolassy Christ Church (Portumna)
Lickmolassy Christ Church (Portumna) was built in 1832. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a two-stage tower, an internal gallery, pinnacles and buttressed walls. The church stands in its own graveyard.
History
The church is attributed to architect James Pain. It was constructed on a site donated by the Earl of Clanricarde, with funding supported by a loan of £1500 from the Board of First Fruits.
