About Church of the Sacred Heart
Church of the Sacred Heart was built around 1800. It has a single-cell plan with a three-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a bell tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and a marble altar.
The building
This detached single-cell Roman Catholic barn church features a gabled porch to the north-west and a lower gabled sacristy to the east. The exterior includes a crucifixion plaque, pointed arch windows with painted masonry surrounds, and a cut limestone quatrefoil window in the porch gable. An attached mild steel belfry and terracotta ridge crestings complete the structure.
