About Immaculate Conception, Ballindangan
Immaculate Conception, Ballindangan was built around 1840 in the Gothic Revival style. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
The freestanding cruciform church faces south-west and includes a lower sacristy on the north-east elevation. The interior lobby features a parquet timber floor with geometric and encaustic tiling, while the nave contains a timber-clad ceiling with heavy cornice moulding and a marble altar. A memorial millennium oak stands to the west, and the site is grouped with a nearby handball alley and village school.
