About Saint Abban's Church, Adamstown
Saint Abban's Church, Adamstown was built in 1835. It has a simple single-cell form and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and crenellated parapets.
The building
Inside, linoleum-tiled aisles run between timber pews with cruciform detailing, and the ceiling has a moulded plaster cornice centred on filigree ventilation roses. A stepped sanctuary dais includes an inlaid cut-veined white-marble high altar.
