About Glascarrig (Donaghmore)
Glascarrig (Donaghmore) was built in 1843. It has a single-cell plan with a three-bay nave, built of rubble limestone. Notable features include a three-stage tower, an internal gallery, crenellated parapets and lancet windows.
The building
Designed by Frederick Darley Junior in 1841, the church was built in 1843 and dedicated in 1844. It was improved between 1864 and 1865 to designs by William John Welland and William Gillespie. The structure features a nave with an entrance tower, constructed of deep blue fieldstone with silver-grey granite dressings. It was damaged in 1997, restored in 1998, and rededicated in 2000.
