Drumcondra St Johnthebaptist (Clonturk) was built in 1743. It has a three-bay nave and pebbledashed walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a bellcote, an internal gallery and window tracery. The church stands in its own graveyard.
History
Built in 1743 with a grant from Mary Coghill in memory of her brother Marmaduke, the church stands on the site of the medieval Priory of All Saints. It was repaired by John Semple in 1833 and extended in 1862-3 to designs by an unknown architect, costing over £400. The gallery was remodelled by Carroll and Batchelor in 1900. The graveyard contains the graves of architect James Gandon, antiquarian Francis Grose, and poet Thomas Furlong.
