About Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Shanbally
Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Shanbally dates from 1819. It has a T-shaped plan with a two-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows and a bellcote.
The building
The front entrance is a pointed arch set within a stepped raised-render surround and fitted with replacement double-leaf timber-battened doors. The transept entrances are pointed segmental arches with tooled-limestone pilasters, incised-render voussoirs and matching replacement double doors.
