About Church of the Immaculate Conception, Louth
Church of the Immaculate Conception, Louth was built around 1890. The church is built of ashlar stone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower with a broach spire, stained-glass windows, window tracery and buttressed walls.
History
Canon Alexander Dillon, parish priest of Louth from 1882 to 1902, initiated a fundraising campaign for the church. W. H. Byrne designed it, and the foundation stone was laid on 5 October 1890.
