About Church of St Margaret
Church of St Margaret was built between 1855 and 1860. It has a four-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and window tracery.
The building
This five-bay Catholic church was rebuilt in 1858-9 on a T-shaped plan. The interior features timber pews and stations from 1880, along with stained glass memorial windows dated 1889. A flèche-topped reredos is attributed to James Shipley of Blackwater. The sanctuary was reordered following the Second Ecumenical Council of the Vatican.
