About Church of St Cyprian
Church of St Cyprian was built between 1900 and 1905. It has a simple single-cell form and rendered walls. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
Designed by Joseph Kelly Freeman and rebuilt in 1901, the church may repurpose portions of an earlier chapel marked on the 1840 Ordnance Survey. It features a compact rectilinear plan with a streamlined Romanesque theme, defined by slender openings and a chancel 'Trinity Window'. The interior retains original fabric including an exposed timber roof, a choir gallery on cast-iron pillars, and wall monuments to Reverend Matthias Brennan and Reverend Patrick Parker.
