About Church of Our Lady Queen, Newinn
Church of Our Lady Queen, Newinn was built in 1832. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage bell tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and crenellated parapets.
The building
The building features a sacristy and single-storey extension to the north, with a three-stage bell tower positioned at the south entrance elevation. The tower is constructed of snecked cut sandstone with string courses, pinnacles, and crenellations, while the nave and transepts contain pointed arch window openings with painted stone sills. The site is set back from the street and enclosed by painted rendered boundary walls with cast-iron gates, alongside a graveyard and tarmacadamed area.
