About Carrigallen
Carrigallen was built in 1814. It has a single-cell plan with a three-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, crenellated parapets and pinnacles.
The building
This Church of Ireland church follows a Board of First Fruits style and contains a three-bay nave with a south porch and a west tower. The roughcast rendered walls feature tooled stone quoins, while the entrance includes a carved four-centred-arched opening with a hood moulding and timber battened double door. Flat-arched windows sit above stone sills, and the graveyard contains the ruin of a fifteenth-century church.
