About Ballyhooly Christ Church (Convamore)
Ballyhooly Christ Church (Convamore) was built in 1881. It has a four-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a two-stage bell tower, stained-glass windows, window tracery and buttressed walls. The church stands in its own graveyard.
History
Designed by W.H. Hill, the church replaced an earlier structure built in 1774. It was apparently constructed using cut stone re-used from Bridgetown Abbey. The building stands on elevated ground overlooking the River Blackwater.
