About Teampol-Na-Mbocht (Altar)
Teampol-Na-Mbocht (Altar) was built between 1847 and 1852. It has a cruciform plan with a four-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a bell tower, stained glass including a rose window, window tracery and lancet windows.
Notable people
The project was initiated by Rev. William Fisher in 1847, who supervised the construction. He named the church Teampol-na-mbocht, meaning Church of the Poor, after using famine relief funds to provide work for the very poorest during its building between 1847 and 1852.
