About Ballydehob St Matthias
Ballydehob St Matthias was built around 1860. It has a four-bay nave, built of rubble stone under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include stained glass including a rose window, a bellcote and window tracery. The church stands in its own graveyard.
The building
The pointed doorways have rubble-limestone voussoirs, carved limestone surrounds and timber-battened doors with decorative wrought-iron hinges. Inside are a carved timber reredos, pulpit, pews and organ; the boundary has rendered walls, gate piers and cast-iron gates.
