About Streete
Streete was built in 1810. The church has rendered walls. Notable features include a three-stage tower, crenellated parapets and window tracery.
History
The Church of Ireland church in Streete was (re)built in 1810 and altered c.1880. It probably contains earlier fabric, suggested by a memorial dated 1767 and irregular window spacing. Local tradition holds it was originally a Roman Catholic church, and a 1612 report mentions a thatched church at Streete. Lewis (1837) records that the Ecclesiastical Commissioners granted £228 for repairs to the ancient building.
