About St.Patrick Church, Ballysteen
St.Patrick Church, Ballysteen was built in 1861 in the Gothic Revival style. It has a four-bay nave, built of rubble limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows.
The building
Consecrated in 1862, this freestanding Roman Catholic church comprises a four-bay nave, lower gabled chancel, and gable-fronted sacristy. The rubble limestone structure features rusticated quoins, cut limestone copings, and carved Celtic cross finials. A cut limestone belfry with a cast-iron bell sits on the west elevation. Interior elements include timber pews, raised cruck roof supports on limestone stops, and confessional boxes.
