About Kilcornan (Castletown)
Kilcornan (Castletown) was built in 1831. The church is built of rubble limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, crenellated parapets and lancet windows. The church stands in its own graveyard.
The building
Four-centred door openings at the porches and principal entrance have tooled cut-limestone surrounds and double-leaf timber-battened doors, with hood or label mouldings and limestone steps. The roadside boundary includes rubble-limestone walling and cut-limestone piers carrying double-leaf cast-iron gates.
