About St. Teresa's Church, Rathduff
St. Teresa's Church, Rathduff was built in 1842. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and mosaic work.
The building
Renovated in 1916, the interior was allegedly improved to a design by William Henry Byrne and Son of Dublin. The sanctuary was reordered and contains a mosaic tiled stepped dais with replacement Gothic-style altar fittings installed in 2006. The east chancel features a lancet Trinity window, and the roof has roll moulded clay ridge tiles with a wrought iron cross finial. Exposed strutted collared timber roof construction is visible internally. The church stands in landscaped grounds on a slightly elevated site in Co. Mayo.
