About St. Patrick’s, Louisburgh
St. Patrick’s, Louisburgh was completed in 1861. It has a nine-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained glass including a rose window, an internal gallery and buttressed walls.
The building
The west entrance is pointed-arched and framed by a cut-limestone block-and-start surround with engaged colonette detailing, chamfered reveals and a hood moulding on monolithic label stops. The opening contains timber-boarded or tongue-and-groove panelled double doors.
