About St Patrick’s, Derrybrien
St Patrick’s, Derrybrien was built around 1850. It has a T-shaped plan and rendered walls under a pitched tiled roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
The church features a gabled entrance porch approached by tooled limestone steps, with timber battened doors. Inside, a freestanding tooled limestone baptismal font and integral dressed limestone holy water font stand in the porch. The altar recess was added in 1956 in memory of Thomas Slattery. The interior also contains timber panelled confessionals, painted framed Stations of the Cross, and a marble altar.
