About St. Patrick’s Church, Johnstownbridge
St. Patrick’s Church, Johnstownbridge was built around 1830. It has a three-bay nave. Notable features include a three-stage tower with a spire, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and crenellated parapets.
The building
The chancel contains decorative plasterwork as Hindu-Gothic in style, with replacement altar fittings dating from about 1975. The church is set back within its own grounds, where the south-east gateway has rendered piers with moulded caps and cast-iron gates and railings.
