About St Patrick’s, Church, Broomfield
St Patrick’s, Church, Broomfield was built between 1898 and 1901 in the Early English Gothic style. It has a cruciform plan with a five-bay nave, built of limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a four-stage tower, an internal gallery, a marble altar and crenellated parapets.
The building
Pointed-arch doorways open at the gable front and on the road sides of the transepts; the main entrance retains recessed timber-battened double doors with decorative metal strap hinges. Inside, a moulded pointed chancel arch and lower pointed arcades rest on chamfered square-profile marble piers.
