About St Patrick's Church, Athleague
St Patrick's Church, Athleague was built in 1842. It has a cruciform plan with a four-bay nave. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and lancet windows.
History
The church was reconstructed in 1942–43 and renovated again in 1994. Its later semi-polygonal apse was built with stone reclaimed from the demolished Rookwood House, while chiselled limestone Ionic columns inside were reused from that house’s portico.
