About St. Nicholas', Churchtown
St. Nicholas', Churchtown was built around 1860. It has a four-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
This freestanding Roman Catholic church was built c. 1860 and comprises a four-bay nave, a one-bay chancel to the west, and a priest's porch and sacristy to the south. The structure features snecked limestone walls, a pitched artificial slate roof, and an ashlar bellcote containing a cast-iron bell. Interior elements include a marble reredos, altar, rails, and baptismal font, while the site is enclosed by limestone boundary walls within a graveyard.
