About St. Michael’s Church Blackrock
St. Michael’s Church Blackrock was built in 1962. The church is built of granite. Notable features include a three-stage tower and stained-glass windows. It was designed by James Rupert Boyd Barrett.
History
The replacement was commissioned after an earlier church on the same site was destroyed by fire. It as one of several churches built for Bishop Lucey during the 1960s to serve Cork City's growing suburbs.
