About St Michael’s Church
St Michael’s Church was built between 1852 and 1858. It has a six-bay nave, built of stone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a five-stage tower with a spire, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and pinnacles.
History
The church was commissioned in 1846 and designed by J. J. McCarthy during the post-Emancipation period. Carefully carved limestone is used throughout the building.
