About St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, Bekan
St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, Bekan was built between 1934 and 1935. It has a seven-bay nave under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained glass including a rose window, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
The church is attributed to Reverend Charles J. White PP and succeeded an adjacent chapel from 1838. It features a rectilinear plan with a streamlined Romanesque theme, highlighted by a bellcote framing an 1887 cast-iron bell. The interior includes an exposed timber roof construction and a cut-veined white marble baptismal font.
