About St. Joseph's Church, Meelin

St. Joseph's Church, Meelin dates from 1837. The church is built of rubble limestone under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include stained glass including a rose window, an internal gallery and a marble altar. The porch was added in 1898.

The building

A freestanding limestone-ashlar bellstand stands to the south-east, with a trefoil-arched bell opening and limestone cross finial. Priests' graves on the site include ornate markers, while roughcast-rendered boundary walls end in square-plan piers with a wrought-iron gate.
