About St. Johnston Presbyterian Church
St. Johnston Presbyterian Church was built around 1849. It has a four-bay nave and rendered walls. Notable features include a three-stage tower, an internal gallery, crenellated parapets and pinnacles.
History
Originally built in 1849 as a simple hall, the church replaced an earlier meeting house, possibly dating to 1724. A three-stage tower was added in 1859. The building was damaged by lightning in December 1982, leading to a refurbishment where the tower was reportedly rebuilt using original stone. It re-opened for worship in March 1984.
