About St. James' Church, Athboy
St. James' Church, Athboy was built in 1845. The church is built of limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a tower, stained-glass windows, pinnacles and buttressed walls.
The building
The nave has five-bay side elevations, and the entrance retains timber-panelled double doors beneath an elaborate fanlight. Stone high crosses and a statue stand within the site, which is enclosed by ashlar limestone piers with cast-iron railings and gates.
