About Church of the Immaculate Conception, Girley

Church of the Immaculate Conception, Girley was built in 1800. It has a cruciform plan with a two-bay nave. Notable features include mosaic work and lancet windows.

The building

The detached four-bay double-height structure features roughcast walls and a replacement pitched artificial slate roof. Pointed-arch window openings have drag edged cut-limestone sills and timber mullions. The interior includes a carpeted central aisle, replacement timber pews, and a cut-veined white marble tabernacle set in a mosaic tiled surround.
