About St Catherine’s Church, Oughterlin
St Catherine’s Church, Oughterlin dates from 1792. It has a T-shaped plan with a two-bay nave and rendered walls. Notable features include crenellated parapets, pinnacles and window tracery.
The building
The church features a Tudor-arch doorway with an ashlar sandstone surround and a timber battened double-leaf door. Pointed-arch windows contain timber tracery and cast-iron quarries with crown glass insets. A gabled sacristy addition stands to the northeast, accessed by concrete steps. The site includes a rubble stone boundary wall with wrought-iron pedestrian gates and a graveyard containing a grave with an ornate cast-iron enclosure.
