About St. Brigid’s Clonakenny, Bournea

St. Brigid’s Clonakenny, Bournea was built in 1899. It has a six-bay nave. Notable features include a bell tower, a bellcote and an open timber roof.

The building

The roofs combine slate and artificial slate, with carved stone crosses and cut-stone copings. The nave is pebble-dashed while the chancel is smoothly rendered, with brick quoins and brick surrounds to the round-headed openings; a limestone plaque is fixed at the side porch.
