About St Brigid’s Church, Croghan
St Brigid’s Church, Croghan was built in 1827. It has a cruciform plan and pebbledashed walls. Notable features include a bell tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and window tracery.
The building
St Brigid’s Church is a detached cruciform Roman Catholic church built in 1827 and remodelled in 1960. It features pebbledashed walls with rendered quoins, a pitched slate roof with terracotta ridge cresting, and a carved limestone cross finial to the east gable. The interior contains stucco ceiling decoration, a carved timber reredos, and an altar with a timber balcony. The grounds include a stone grotto, a cast-iron bell tower, and a front boundary wall with sandstone ashlar facing.
