About St. Brendan
St. Brendan dates from 1828. It has a cruciform plan under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include a bell tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and crenellated parapets.
History
A plaque in the grounds records that Christopher B. Martin Esq and his wife erected the chapel at their own expense in 1828, aided by the Very Revd Bernard Kelly PP of Eyrecourt. The church stands on a prominent corner site adjacent to the road, bounded by cast-iron gates and railings with a cut limestone plinth. A double-height screen wall with pointed-arch niches separates the site from the former presbytery to the east.
