About Saint Michael
Saint Michael was built between 1919 and 1923 in the Early English Gothic style. It has a cruciform plan with a six-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a bell tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and buttressed walls.
History
A new cemetery associated with the church opened in 1963. The west entrance has a pointed-arch opening with a tooled limestone surround and timber tongue-and-groove double doors fitted with decorative cast-iron hinges.
