About First Castleblayney Presbyterian Church
First Castleblayney Presbyterian Church dates from 1787. It has a three-bay nave and rendered walls. Notable features include an internal gallery and window tracery. The church stands in its own graveyard.
The building
Remodelled in 1930 by John Francis McGahon, the church features a single-storey flat-roofed minister’s room to the rear. The interior contains a carved timber pulpit and a balcony supported by cast-iron columns. A nearby lecture hall was built in 1892 by John Harvey of Castleblayney.
