About Saint Aidan's Modasteraden
Saint Aidan's Modasteraden was built around 1885. It has a single-cell plan with a six-bay nave, built of ashlar sandstone. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
Saint Aidan's Modasteraden is a detached single-cell Catholic church built c. 1885. It features squared-and-snecked rockfaced ashlar cream sandstone walling with grey limestone and red sandstone bands. The structure includes a six-bay nave, a two-bay chancel, and a gabled bellcote with cast-iron finials. Interior elements comprise timber pointed-arch roof trusses, a choir balcony, and stained glass leaded lights in the chancel.
