About Sacred Heart Church, Bangor Erris
Sacred Heart Church, Bangor Erris dates from 1946. It has a simple single-cell form and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an open timber roof.
The building
The entrance has a round-headed opening with a concrete threshold and a rusticated rendered block-and-start surround, its moulded reveals framing replacement boarded double doors. The gable window has a concrete sill and Y-mullion, with concealed dressings and storm glazing over fixed panes.
