About Sacred Heart
Sacred Heart was built around 1880. It has a two-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained glass including a rose window and window tracery. The chancel was added in 1975.
The building
This detached Catholic church in Bunnanaddan, Co. Mayo, follows a cruciform plan with two-bay east and west transepts. Each transept features a single-storey gabled porch projecting from the south elevation, while an M-roofed sacristy is located to the north. The structure includes painted smooth-rendered walling with quoins on the south-facing elevations and pointed-arch window openings with Y-tracery stained glass.
