About Roscrea St Cronan
Roscrea St Cronan was built in 1812. It has a simple single-cell form, built of sandstone under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include a four-stage tower, stained-glass windows, crenellated parapets and pinnacles.
The building
The Church of Ireland church features a five-bay nave with a southwest porch and southeast vestry. Constructed from coursed dressed sandstone, it includes diagonal buttresses, string courses, and pointed-arch openings with stained glass. The graveyard is enclosed by a rubble wall and cast-iron railings, incorporating the surviving west front of a Romanesque church and a replica high cross.
