About Our Lady of Lourdes and St Colmcille
Our Lady of Lourdes and St Colmcille is a Catholic church at Leitir Móir, Co. Galway, in the Leitir Móir parish of the Diocese of Galway, Kilmacduagh and Kilfenora. The Saturday vigil Mass is at 7:00pm. Michael Scott’s original design for this exposed coastal site was rejected by Bishop Browne, and Simon J. Kelly produced the final plan. Local people cleared and levelled the rocky ground by hand before construction. The church was built by Farmer Bros. of Dublin for £26,000 and opened on 31 May 1959.
