Moate St Mary (Kilcleagh) was built around 1782. It has a three-bay nave under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a two-stage tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and crenellated parapets.
History
This Church of Ireland building was constructed c.1782 and altered c.1819 and c.1835. Lewis (1837) records that the 1819 enlargement used a gift of £300 and a loan of £500 from the Board of First Fruits. Later repairs were funded by a grant of £228 from the Ecclesiastical Commissioners. The stained glass windows and polygonal chancel may have been added during these early-to-mid nineteenth century alterations.
