About Kinneigh St Bartholomew
Kinneigh St Bartholomew was built in 1856 in the Romanesque style. It has a six-bay nave, built of limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows and buttressed walls.
The building
St Bartholomew's Church in Kinneigh, Co. Mayo, stands on the site of an ancient monastery. The only remaining structure from that earlier period is a round tower dated 1014, located to the north-west of the church. The current Church of Ireland building features a six-bay nave and single-bay chancel constructed from roughly dressed limestone. It includes a gabled porch, vestry, and round-headed windows with lead-lined lattice glazing. The site is enclosed by a rubble stone boundary wall and contains a graveyard with recumbent and upstanding markers.
