About Ballineen Methodist Church
Ballineen Methodist Church was built between 1870 and 1871. It has a simple single-cell form and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include window tracery and lancet windows.
History
The foundation stone was laid by Francis Bernard, third Earl of Bandon, on 4 October 1870. The church was officially opened by Reverend Wesley Guard on 19 October 1871. It replaced an earlier chapel from 1823, which was one of five permitted by a Conference assembled in Dublin on 6 July 1821.
