About Kilmore St Fethlimidh (Kilmore Cathedral)
Kilmore St Fethlimidh (Kilmore Cathedral) was built in 1860 in the Gothic Revival style. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave, built of squared limestone. Notable features include a five-stage tower, stained glass including a rose window, crenellated parapets and window tracery.
The building
The main pointed-arch portal has stepped reveals with engaged colonnettes and a carved tympanum bearing an episcopal coat of arms and floral motifs above paired shoulder-arched doors. A relocated Romanesque doorway to the vestry has chevron arches with animal, foliate and geometric decoration.
