About Kildare St Brigid
Kildare St Brigid was built between 1890 and 1896 in the Gothic Revival style. It has a cruciform plan with a six-bay nave. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, mosaic work and crenellated parapets.
The building
This Church of Ireland Cathedral incorporates fabric from a 1223 church and later reconstructions. The structure features a six-bay nave, transepts, and a chancel with a crow-stepped gable. A freestanding round tower, dating to c.1150, stands to the north-west. The site includes a graveyard with markers from c.1700 to c.1950 and a gateway built c.1895.
