About Kells Presbyterian Church
Kells Presbyterian Church was built around 1870 in the Gothic Revival style. The church is built of rubble stone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include buttressed walls and lancet windows.
The building
The detached gable-fronted structure features four-bay side elevations to the nave. The entrance gable displays rock-faced snecked masonry with corner buttresses and ashlar limestone dressings. A rose window with hood moulding sits above a carved limestone pointed arch doorcase. This doorcase includes timber battened doors with strap hinges, flanked by carved colonnettes and a trefoil inset. The nave walls are rubble stone with lancet windows having yellow brick dressings. Cast-iron piers and gates set in railings with limestone plinths define the site boundary.
