The building

This freestanding gable-fronted Roman Catholic church features a sacristy to the north and a flat-roofed extension to the east. The rendered walls are detailed with quoins, a plinth, and a plaque under a label-moulding on the south elevation. The pitched slate roof is topped with limestone cross finials and copings. Pointed-arch openings contain fifteen-over-twelve pane timber sliding sash windows with intersecting timber tracery. The entrance has a timber panelled door and fanlight with similar tracery, set within a cut limestone hood-moulding. Inside, the single-cell space includes a carved timber gallery at the entrance end and a half-glazed timber porch. The altar end features a painted plaster reredos with a canopy supported on Ionic pilasters, set against a painting of the Crucifixion. Marble altar furniture is present, and the ceilings are painted plaster with roses. The church is surrounded by a graveyard enclosed by a rendered wall with a decorative metal double-leaf gate and railings.
